I'm such a huge Harry Potter fan, have all the books many time, seen all the movie at the theater and bought the DVD's when they come out. I've been contemplating if I should pre-order the Harry Potter 7 book, The Deathly Hallows. In the past I've always gone to Target on the day it comes out and been just fine in buying my book. However, this time I'm worried that because it's the last book and all that shmezel it'll be out when I want it, and I want it right away! I'm obsessive like that. I looked online at the different places you can order it from. Amazon seems to be the best, in that it's $17.99 for the book, and if you do standard shipping for $4 they guarantee that you'll receive it on the day it's released. That sounds like a pretty good deal to me. The only problem I could see would be if I wasn't home to receive it from the postman or the UPS dude. Then of course I wouldn't be able to get it until the following Monday, way too long to wait in my book (haha, book, get it?!). Hmmm...so, do I order it and then make sure I stay home that day until I get it? Decisions, decisions. I do think I'd feel a much greater peace of mind if I order it and not have to think about getting to Target and finding my much waited book out of stock. Has anyone else pre-ordered their book? Any ideas where to look for a good deal?

That is a tough decision. Amazon doesn't usually make you sign for things. At least, my UPS man usually just leaves Amazon packages at the door. Yours doesn't? If you would have to sign for it, then I would probably get it the day of. Stop at a store on your way to work, don't wait until the end of the day. Or be one of those freaks at Wal-Mart at midnight the night it is released.
Maybe I could always leave a note on the door saying PLEASE leave my package Mr. UPS man! Just in case he feels the urge not to.
that's the tricky thing about apartments/condos. each complex has "rules" about packages being left. some people are sticklers and some aren't. it just depends. but i say order it. it'll come. i did. hehe - some things can't be sacrificed!
Thanks Hayley. I think I'm going to! I'm so excited!
Every time the Harry Potter books come out, I go through this same struggle. Do I pre-order or do I chance it? I really want to pre-order this year also. I'm excited for the final book! Hooray!
I did it girls! I ordered it from Amazon. The total turned out to be $22, not too bad I thought. I'm so excited now! Yay!
Hi! I'm Natalie's friend and finally venturing out of my own circle into the unknown.
I'm SUPER excited about Harry Potter. I've never pre-ordered mine and have never had a problem. I usually end up traveling the day they're released too and the airport book shops are STOCKED UP!
I read something somewhere that because of markdowns, big chain stores are only going to be making $0.01 on this book! While I love a good deal, I'm going to support the local mom&pop shop this time I believe.
Anyway, happy reading!
