Speedy Gonzalez

I'm kind of an evil person at times, but at least I admit it, right? We have this new sweeper at our school, who I like to call "speedy". He's a strange bloke. Always running around like he's in a race or something and he's just strange. He sprays our counters from clear across the room, carries the dusting thing in his mouth so he can do more at once, dusts the TV while my teacher friend is sitting underneath, stacks the garbage can (okay, so this one was remedied once we complained to the custodian over him) and didn't put the garbage cans back where they belong. He's just weird okay, take my word for it.

Well, after school today Speedy comes in to clean, I can't help always watching him in entertainment, it's just freaky. The other sweeper comes to mop the back floor, and Speedy goes speeding along the floor, hits the wet part, and goes free skating along, arms flying over his head, glasses sailing across the room and WHAM he hits into my desk (which knocks everything over by the way). Now I'm sitting at my desk staring at him somewhat entertained by all this fun. I do ask him, "Are you all right?" He responds with "Sorry...sorry" and goes zooming off. After he leaves the room I start busting up laughing. See, I told you I'm somewhat evil, but heck people, if you saw what I saw you'd be laughing too.

MMMM....AHHHH

I'm a fan of smell good/ feel good hair products. I'll pay what I must to get a good product for my hair. I will definitely splurge on what I feel is important. Okay, so every now and then what I feel is important might not exactly be the most important thing it the world, but it seems to be at that moment in time I'm getting side tracked here. Back to my point. I love my Abba shampoo and conditioner, however, I'm feeling in need of something new to try, yet just as good in quality and yumminess. Any suggestions gals?

My New Stamps

In my card club for the next couple months, we have to make Christmas tags as well as a card through December. Now I have lots of cute stamps, of course not as many as I want, but I don't have any Christmas ones. I was looking through a Paper Crafts magazine and saw the cutest Christmas stamps ever! I immediately googled it to see if I could find them. I love google. I think I google everything imaginable through my day, so much fun. I found them on sale on ebay and ordered them right away. Woo Hoo!! They arrived in the mail today. I love the mail, just like Holly. It's so exciting to get a package or some fun magazine or letter (I'll skip the bills though). They're the cutest things ever and I can't wait to try them out. I've looked at them at least a dozen times since getting home today and picking up the mail. How much fun am I going to be having now in making my tags. Yay for me!

My Bee Hive

Okay, so I don't really have a bee hive, but I do have a hive, the itchy kind that drives me bonkers. It really shouldn't be that big of a deal since I get a random hive here and there quite often, at least a couple times a week. I think I'm just allergic to life and need to stay home in bed every now and then. Usually if I just leave it alone, it will go away in an hour or so. Other times I take a Benadryl and presto chango, it'll be gone within the half hour.

This morning I got the luckiness of getting a hive on my arm. Not being the brightest in the bunch, I started itching it until now it's bigger than life itself. That definitely doesn't make it itch any less, let me tell you. Since I'm at school I don't have access to my Benadryl stash, and must suffer the agony of waiting the blasted hour until it's gone. Good times.

Nothin' to Blog About

I've been frantically searching my brain trying and trying to think of something exciting to blog about. However, nothing exciting has happened to me all weekend. How boring am I?! I was sick all weekend, and spend most of it lying in bed praying that I would die soon so the torture would end. That's about the highlight of my weekend. I had great plans of going to see a movie, hopefully Becoming Jane, Bourne Ultimatum, or Nanny Diaries. There are a ton of movies I want to see, and I would have loved to have spent a weekend doing something fun like that. But oh no, I had to waste a perfectly good weekend being sick. Blasted kids! The hazards of being a teacher.

On a good note, I am feeling better today, just in time to make it back to work tomorrow. Lucky me. Maybe I'll make Matt take me on a motorcycle ride so I can say I did something worthwhile this weekend.

The Fun Starts Here

Matt and I skipped work today to go to Lagoon. It was a 2 for 1 day, something with KUTV viewer appreciation day or something. KUTV rocks. Hehe. We had fun. We actually slept in a little, which was nice for a change. I wanted to go on the new Wicked Coaster. Oh my goodness! I thought for sure I was going to pee my pants. Everyone else before us was getting the blast off sound as a warning for "Hold on tight. You're going to die." We did NOT get this warning, blasted people, not a fair thing since I was scared already. I did enjoy it, and would do it again, but it was quite the intense ride, gave me a major headache for quite a while after. Yes, I am somewhat of a wimp.

Ya know what cracks me up about Lagoon? All these little 12 year old girls running around in Daisy Dukes and spaghetti strap see through tank tops. I would never in a million years let my little girl go anywhere, not to mention Lagoon, wearing something like that. And some of the clothes these big fat creepy looking ladies wear, EW!! There's definitely quite the people watching entertainment going on.

I'm Late! I'm Late! For a Very Important Date!

I left a little later than usual this morning. It really wasn't that big of a deal though, until I got to the on ramp for the freeway. No one seemed to be moving. Joy of all joys. Now I knew I would be late. It took me about 20 minutes to get from the on ramp to the exit for 215, which mind you, is less than a mile. There was an out of control accident. Those just make me sick to my stomach, I almost started to cry. Ever since my accident a year and a half ago, anything that reminds me of it, makes me ill. There was a dump truck turned sideways, and 2 cars that were smashed beyond recognition. Glass all over the freeway, it was crazy.

I made it to school finally, though I arrived right as the kids were coming in. I'd warned Melissa, another 3rd grade teacher, that I didn't think I'd make it in time, so I wasn't too panicked, but it was still somewhat stressful to have the kids in my classroom before I was. I always hate when days start out this way. I'm hoping it'll only get better from there.

Caucasian?!

Today I got a new student. I always dread that, knowing how much work I need to put in to get all the materials prepared for her, plus catch her up on classroom procedures, rules, etc. etc. etc. Not my fav! However, I did survive and get through my day. Yay! This morning as a blond, blue eyed little girl walked into my classroom, I was somewhat surprised. What?! Are you in the wrong classroom? I am Mrs. Jensen ya know.

A little side note here, I have many different nationalities in my class, the minority being Caucasian. Lets see here, we've got Vietnamese, Asian, Korean, Hispanic, Laotian, and I'm sure I've missed a few. Don't get me wrong, I've got a pretty cute class this year. However, as told to me by our ESL specialist, "You've got THE most ESL students in your class. I will try and come help you as much as I can work in." Yeah, thanks people for trying to split that up somewhat evenly.

Yay for Shopping

I went shopping to Target after school today. That's seriously one of my favorite places to go, who doesn't love Target. You can always find something fun to buy there, right? Well, thanks to Hayley, I found the cutest shirt for only $10, makes me love it even more. I seem to find myself in a rut every now and then, having nothing to wear but the same old crapola. I love getting something new to wear, it just puts me in the best mood. Yay for shopping!

I'm feeling a yucky gonna puke feeling in my tummy at the moment. Don't know what's wrong with me. Been curled on the couch since I got home from work today, sorta just wish I'd vomit all ready and then I could feel better. Blech! Needs to go away now.

Party Time

We just got back from Garrett's birthday party. He turned 5, such a cutie pie. Well, actually he didn't turn 5 today, his real birthday was the 15th, so this was just the family party. One of the gifts I gave him was The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog. Oh my goodness, I just love those pigeon books, the kids will laugh hysterically every time I read it to them. Well, okay, I laugh too, they're just so dang funny.

How cute is this picture of Garrett and Ashlie? They were in Disneyland, on a double decker bus, or so my sister says. Ha! You can't really tell. They are so cute I want to bite them!! I also want to go to Disneyland, I love that place and haven't been in maybe 10 years....oh sheesh, I really do need to go.

Joy to the World

We've had a hummingbird feeder for about 2 months now, and sadly I haven't seen one hummingbird visit. I'm very faithful at checking it and making a quick glance out the window looking for those hummingbirds. Blasted! I'm always so excited to visit my mom's house, they get a bazillion hummingbirds, though there's this one that's the evil, selfish hummingbird that doesn't want to share with the rest. He hides in the tree and when one comes to take a drink dive bombs him. Oooh! He makes me so mad sometimes. All I've been wanting is one hummingbird before the season ends, just one, is that too much to ask?!

Okay, so we just had home teachers come to visit us. We're sitting and chatting about our hummingbird feeder. I say, "No, we haven't had one visit from my little friends." The one dude said, "We just live right over there. We have tons all the time." I was thinking to myself, HOW RUDE! Well right about this time, I take a little look outside and lo and behold, it's a hummingbird, drinking from MY feeder. I'm so excited!! "It's a hummingbird!!! Look! Look!!!!!!" Yeah, I was quite excited. What are the odds. I think I love these home teachers, they need to come more often to bring my hummingbirds. Now I'm going to have to sit here all night and wait for my little flying friend to come back.

4 Things About Me You Might Not Know

1. When I was little I always wanted to be a teacher, a mom, and a ballet dancer. I took ballet up until High School, loved it. Did toe shoe and all that fun stuff. I did well at becoming a teacher, a mom not for a while anyway, and a ballet dancer yeah right maybe in my next life.
2. I never lived away from home until I got married. Crazy huh? I did want to go to Utah State at one point in time, but ended up going to the University of Utah and still lived at home.
3. I'm obsessed with shoes and purses. If anyone ever needs to think of a gift for me (I know you all do), then it's a pretty safe bet that I would love any pair of shoes or purse that you felt a desire to buy me.
4. Growing up I had a dog named Laddie. He was the best dog in the whole world! I used to be afraid of dogs before my family got him. When I was a toddler I was charged by a mean, evil dog when I was playing outside, and hated dogs after that. My dog, Laddie, knew I was nervous around him and would make sure he didn't get too close to me until I felt comfortable enough, he would walk clear around me to get across the room. What a sweetheart. He ended up being my closest confidant. I'd tell him all my woes and problems. I loved him!

4 Jobs I've Had:

1. JCPenney working in the credit/catalog/gift wrap department. It was an alright job until around Christmas time when evil impatient customers wanted their gifts wrapped.
2. American Express in the data entry department. I loved this job because I could listen to music all day and social to my hearts content to those around me.
3. Wells Fargo Bank as a teller. I met some fun people here, though you always have that one cranky lady that ruins it for everyone. Sheesh! I was thrilled when she changed locations.
4. Teacher at Jordan Hills Elementary. 2 years in 4th grade, now coming on 5 years in 3rd. Craziness! Most days I feel like a babysitter/mom/nurse/referee/entertainer/and sometimes an educator. haha

My Rating

Wow, look at that. I am appropriate for children sometimes. Haha!

I'm a Disaster

Sometimes I have my clutsy, spilling moments. Today was definitely one of those days. Now, usually I might add, I know when I have spilled something or got crappiness all over me. Not today! I woke up on time this morning, shocker of shockers. I had time to curl my hair, put on nice capris and a creme colored shirt. I have my card party tonight and was hoping to look somewhat presentable. Around 9am this morning, I was handing out papers to my kids (note: whenever I say kids, I really mean students, but they're still MY kids, right?) when I look down and notice I have black mark crap all over my shirt. Crappy, crap, sucky! And here I tried so hard to look nice this morning. The worst part about it is, who knows how long the crap has been all over my shirt, and I still can't figure out how I did it. I make a trip to the bathroom and figure I can at least try my best to see if a little water will get it out. Yes, the majority of the ugly black crap marks come out of my shirt, but now I have an even greater problem. I have wet spots all over me. My favorite one of course covered most of my boob, the rest were here and there all over my shirt. I was laughing quite hysterically at myself by this point. Lucky for me it's starting to dry and I won't have to make the trip down to the lunch room looking like a complete freak show. Haha!

Office?!

Have I mentioned how annoyingly moronic our office is at my school? They seem to find more opportunities to drive me absolutely crazy. On Thursday they paged me asking for "Mrs. Reynolds", last I checked I was still Mrs. Jensen. Last year they were constantly paging my room looking for Mrs. Reynolds. My favorite was when the afore mentioned Mrs. Reynolds was off track, they page my room, "Mrs. Reynolds?" "No, this is Mrs. Jensen's room" "Oh. Well, do you know where Mrs. Reynolds is?" "Yes. She is off track!" "Oh. Well, do you have Brennan in your room?" "No. He would be in Mrs. Reynolds class, which is OFF TRACK!" Seriously people, how stupid can you be.

My newest story happened on Friday. We were in the middle of a spelling test, when the office pages my room (oh joy, what new entertainment will I have today).
"Office?"
"Uh...did you need something?" (me)
"You paged us." (office)
"Uh, no I didn't. Don't need anything." (me) A few minutes later.
"Office?"
"What do you need?" (me)
"Do you need something?" (office)
"No!" (me) yes, I'm getting quite frustrated by this point.
"Well, your room is blinking like you paged us." (office)
"No, I didn't push anything. I didn't call you." (me)
"Did one of your kids push the button?" (office) Hmmm...retards, let me check I've been taking a nap over here.
"NO! We are all sitting down. We didn't push anything. We didn't call you." (me) Sheesh! Seriously. What morons! I've had it up to here (okay, so you can't really see my gesturing, but I am way above my head) with their being so unorganized, so clueless on everything. Ugh! Things I have to put up with.

My 7 Random Things

Okay, so finally I got around to thinking about what I could put for my 7 random things. Some of them are definitely random, but whatever.

1. I fell in love and made out with brothers. Well, not exactly at the same time, but they are so completely opposite of each other I found that quite entertaining. And yes, one of them was the better kisser, but it sure was fun teaching the first one my technique. Ha!

2. I've never worn heels in my life. What kind of a freak am I? I've always been self conscious about my height, and refused to date any guy that was shorter or seemed shorter than me. I would always find adorable heels that I would just die to have, but no, I wouldn't buy them. I coveted my sister's height since she is the shortest in our family and could wear tall shoes. I also don't know how to walk in heels. Pathetic. I tried some on for fun, and ended up just laughing hysterically because I could barely stand let alone walk. Hehe.

3. My stomach is constantly and I mean constantly making gurgly, funny noises. I have Acid Reflux for those of you that don't know so I have to take a pill every morning so I can eat normally without regretting it after. My stomach will gurgle when it's hungry, when it's full and trying to digest. It's really entertaining at times when it gets loud and embarrassing. I also am not able to burp. I don't know what that feeling would be like and I'm quite jealous of those of you that can. I know it would be a great relief at times. So don't try and blame me for someone burping, not gonna happen people.

4. I snore, quite loudly and annoyingly from what others have told me. I have a hole in the cartiledge (okay, I don't know how to spell) inside my nose. Apparently I "caused trauma" to my nose in high school while in Color Guard. We were doing the coolest trick by throwing the flag above us, making it spin, lying down and catching it. I messed up and it whacked me hard on the nose. It caused major bleeding and a black eye, but I thought nothing of it. Well, it destroyed the cartiledge and now my nose is forever trying to heal itself, only the hole is too big and I find I just bleed more than normal. At night I have a hard time sleeping, due to this stupid crap, and breathe through my mouth instead which we all know would be quite annoying. Poor Matt.

5. My middle name is Hilda, named after my Grandma Peterson. Growing up I loved that this was my name, though at the same time I was glad it wasn't my first name. My grandma obviously didn't like it since she went by "Pat". Hehe. I was very proud of my middle name and lots of times would write it on my paper in elementary school. "Name.....Melanie Hilda Secrist". I was such a nerd. Hehe!

6. I hate, detest, loathe making decisions. I would rather have anyone else make them for me. I am famous for saying, "I don't know....." But seriously I really Don't Know. It's not that I'm trying to be annoying, I just really suck at deciding things. Even when shopping, which I love to do, I always need someone else with me to help me decide. Sure if I love it I'll buy it, but it's always easier to have someone along to help with that.

7. I suck at directions. It's quite entertaining to some people. I need landmarks anytime you tell me how to get somewhere, not just the coordinates folks, I can't compute that. Lucky for me I have a GPS system in my car or I'd never be able to find anything. I can't even find a friends house the 2nd time after finding it the 1st time, too complicated. Give me step by step instructions and I might be able to figure it out. So whatever you do, don't just give me your address, tell me which store or building it is next to.

Eclipse

It came out today. The 3rd book in the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. I really wish I didn't have to work today so I could go buy it right now. I'm seriously so excited to get it. After school today we have a team leader meeting, I'm really hoping it's going to be a short one. I don't think I'll be able to survive if not. Hayley and I are going to Barnes and Noble after it to get our book. Woo Hoo!! I've been saving a gift card I have to there for this very purpose. How funny is that? Those of you that have not read these book seriously need to start now. I love them!

My New Book!!

I was so excited when I got home from school today because there was a notice in my mailbox saying I had a package at the post office. Now the sad part was The Post Office Had My Package and I didn't which meant I had to drive over there, wait in the outrageous line, and then get my package. Blasted small mailboxes. Holly rocks!! She gave me How Do Dinosaurs Go to School? I've seen this book before and always thought it looked cute, however I'd never read it. Such a cute book. I'm excited to take it to school tomorrow and read it to my kids. Thanks Holly you're the best. And thank you Jori for the fun idea!!

Where Oh Where is My Lost?

I am so addicted to Lost. I have been checking out the Dvds at the library, which I love. I get 2 discs at a time and it's a wonderful way to catch up on all these seasons before the new one comes out. When is that by the way? January? Yeah, I really don't know, I'm too obsessed with watching the ones I've got to worry about anything else at the moment. It drives me crazy that the more I watch to figure out how something turns out, the more stuff they give me to figure out. Ahhh! I think I would go absolutely crazy if I had to wait for a week until the next episode came on TV. I think Matthew Fox is just foxy. And Evangeline Lily is so adorably cute. I just love them. I would much rather be at home right now watching another episode then being here at school. How horrible am I?

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today is my dad's birthday. Yay! I have the best daddy in the world. He's the greatest. I know he would do anything for me at anytime, and he has. We both love watching movies and it was a blast growing up with someone to watch those with. Especially the last few years I was at home, I got him to watch Anne of Green Gables (after all those years of his teasing me and making fun of it) and he loved it. Ha! Things I can get my dad to do. Aren't dad's wonderful? My hope is to one day have a dad just as great for my own someday children.
